IGNOU DElEd Admission 2025: IGNOU will release the application forms on 04 June 2025* for the July 2025 session, and the last date to apply will be on 30 June 2025*. Students who have all the required educational requirements can apply to pursue this course at IGNOU before the deadline.

Students should know that, as per the latest news, IGNOU has stopped offering the DElEd program since 2019. Meanwhile, admission at this open university is open for all other courses offered at multiple levels.

IGNOU DElEd Admission 2025

IGNOU will start its admission process on 04 June 2025* for the July 2025 session, and interested Students will be able to apply online or offline till the last date of 30 June 2025*While filling out the admission forms, applicants will need to pay an application fee of INR 300 for the successful completion of the application process. Those candidates who have completed their 10+2 from a valid board and have scored at least 50% will be eligible for the DElEd course.

However, those who have at least 2 years of teaching experience at the primary and elementary level will also be considered as eligible candidates for pursuing this diploma course. IGNOU DELED Admission 2025 fees for the course curriculum are INR 12,000

Important note: Since 2019, IGNOU has decided to stop offering the DElEd course in any mode at the university. No changes have been made to this decision for the ongoing IGNOU July 2025 session.

  • Students must have completed their 10+2 from a valid board of education, such as CBSE, ICSE, State boards, and others. 
  • They must have gained a minimum of 50% in their intermediate for pursuing the DElEd course at IGNOU. 
  • Those who have a total experience of 2 years at the primary and elementary level (class I to VIII) will be considered eligible to pursue this diploma course. 
  • Indira Gandhi National Open University does not depend on any entrance tests and has strict age restrictions for this diploma course. Hence, candidates of any age can apply for admission to this course without having to qualify in any entrance exam. 

IGNOU DElEd Course Details 

The Diploma in Elementary Education is a 2-year program offered at IGNOU in distance learning mode. Students of IGNOU will be given an extra 2 years to complete this diploma course if they fail to do it within the given time frame. School education and health, Primary maths education, Fine arts and education, along with many others, are some of the subjects included in the IGNOU DElEd Syllabus.

Students can fill out the IGNOU DElEd admission form online or offline by visiting any of the study centres of this open university. This course gives all the required knowledge to its learners and allows the students to become teachers in middle schools. 

How to Apply for IGNOU DElEd Admission 2025

Students who are planning on pursuing the DElEd course in the ongoing IGNOU July 2025 session through distance education mode must complete their admission forms soon. All the steps that will come their way during the application process are mentioned briefly below. 

The step-by-step guide for the IGNOU DElEd application process is as follows:

Step 1: Make a web browser search for IGNOU’s official website by typing @ignou.ac.in in any search engine. 

Step 2: Scroll a little on the page and click on “Apply for ODL programs”.

Step 3: A new page will appear on the screen, which will consist of all the important instructions for filling out the application form of the DElEd course. Read all the instructions carefully. 

Step 4: Now, click on “Click here for new registration”. 

Step 5: The IGNOU registration page will require the applicants to enter their full names and contact details. 

Step 6: Create a username and password of 8 to 16 characters for IGNOU’s admission portal.

Step 7: Now, log in to the admission portal of IGNOU with the login credentials created by you in the previous step. 

Step 8: The online application forms for the DElEd program will appear on the screen. Start filling in your details in each section of the application form.

Step 9: Enter your personal details, which include your category, your family income, details about physical disabilities (if any), mother’s and father’s names and occupations, etc. 

Step 10: Your educational data will also be needed, such as your 10th and 12th board names and scores, the school’s name, and others. 

Step 11: Upload all the essential documents in the correct size and format, such as a passport-size photograph, 12th class mark sheet, etc. 

Step 12: Pay the application fee of INR 300 and click on “Submit”.

Step 13: Take a screenshot of the page, as it might be needed in future.

There are a few documents that are required by IGNOU while candidates are filling out their DElEd application forms. The names of all those documents are mentioned below:

  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Scanned signature of the applicant
  • 12th class mark sheet and certificate 
  • Proof of date of birth 
  • Any government-issued ID proof (Aadhar Card, PAN card, etc.)
